One who could sleep well as per his/her wish is the luckiest person in this world writes Dr. Jeevan Kumar Prasai in his book titled the art of living. Many poems and songs have been written regarding insomnia. But for Sarala Neupane Bhandari her entrepreneurial endeavor has fetched sound sleep & two times meal. She has been able to spend well for her children’s education and serve needy peoples as well. That is to say Sarala’s flowers, plants nursery is a breeding ground of her happiness & prosperity.
It’s said that the fragrance of flower disperse only around the vicinity but the name & fame of a person is revered beyond the physical boundary. Sarala is a perfect epitome of women entrepreneurship. She has been able to disperse her fame far wide through her nursery business where tender flower buds blossom to decorate our gardens and dream houses.
True to her name Sarala is a simple lady and her heart is as tender as flower. Sometimes she writes songs, poems, and Gazals. She was awarded for her poetry during school days. She has a craze of publishing the anthology of her gazals.
Sarala became the better half of Tulsiram Bhandari just at the age of sweet sixteen. She still remembers that ritual of her marriage day. She remained in her mother’s house for one more year to complete her school level education. She passed SLC from Aadarsh Secondary School. Her journey of formal education ended.
Grown up as eldest daughter she did not face any difficulties in her father’s house. She has sweet & sour experiences as an eldest daughter-in-law in her husband’s house. Joint family taught her the lessons of real life. She couldn’t even notice a decade of being confined with household chores.
Sometimes she remembered her motherland Digam & mixed tears in the Kaligandaki river nearby her house in Ridi Bazar. Used to go to Rishikesh temple when she was home sick. Sweet memories of life always hovered in the eyes.
Married in the year 2043 B.S. she gave birth to her elder daughter after three years. Now she is married & working in Siddhartha Bank. Second daughter is in the final preparation of CA. Youngest daughter has completed bachelor in engineering in architect and started her own firm.
Sarala’s family migrated to Butwal in 2056 B.S. Daughters went to Kathmandu for their study. She couldn’t adjust herself in Kathmandu so thought of settling in Butwal. She started nursery business in the year 2063 B.S. In her nurseries in Sukhanagar and Shankarnagar of Tilottama she has provided employment to four others as well. Her Butwal Nursery has gained popularity in Rupandehi. Simple by nature & boldness in responsibility is not her new identity. She is not confined to fences of her nursery. Scope of her ambitions have now been extended to social service sectors as well.
She is an executive member of Gautam Buddha Community Heart Hospital. Being a volunteer member in the hospital she has fulfilled her childhood dream of serving patients as a Nurse. She is the secretary in Lumbini Community Television. She is also the executive member of Rupandehi Udyog Sangh. ‘Women shouldn’t be confined to the four walls rather they should explore themselves all four directions’, says Sarala.
Prosperity cannot be achieved merely by talking & gossiping. She has proved herself by her deeds as an entrepreneur. Social service is her passion. Behind a person’s success there is someone to provide back support & encouragement. Her role model is renowned social service sector icon of Butwal Mrs. Omi Pun. Sarala had got Pun’s company while working in Innerwheel Club.
Sarala’s ‘Butwal Nursery’ has given her a good benefit. Different species of flowers, seasonal plants, asparagus, flower pots, insecticides & gardener have been managed well in her nursery. Not only mango, litchi, orange, nuts, avocado flowers such as Hibiscus, Almoda, Bougainvillea & Roses are awaiting customers in her beautiful nursery.
Customers who have once visited the nursery revisit time and again because Sarala is always smiling & frank in her outlook. Though she couldn’t upgrade her studies beyond SLC her expertise in the field of plant nursery is praiseworthy. She is as competent as a university professor, a perfect example of learning by doing experience. She learnt through time and could become a notable entrepreneur. No one hesitates to call her nursery heroine.
Sarala has a dream of developing her startup to community based collaborative enterprise. She has a conviction to substitute import and promote national economy. She is thinking of establishing a poly-house & green house in her nursery. She has a further plan of collaborating with provincial & local government to expand the scope of her endeavor.
